After looking at the images from the previous OHP shoot I re-drew some of the designs and expanded on a few ideas, with an intention of developing collections for the pieces.
For this shoot I decided to have my model in clothing that she would wear to events or on occasions where she may be inclined to wear Skin Jewellery. This way I could play around with placement and sizing ideas on the model.
I really like the positioning of this chain-like garter design, and feel that this will be a strong final piece for my look. I will have to consider chain thickness and scale when creating the piece as it will not look effective if each end is visible.
I did not find the chain piece above to be particularly effective alone, however I later layered the design with some rose designs and found this to create a beautiful piece. This will be a design I will be creating as a potential final design.
Again I like this design and placement however the size and scale needs to be considered as does the wearability of the design as there would be a lot of friction on the inderside of the arm. I will create a piece and experiment with placement and longevity.
I did not feel that the above design was particularly effective as it just appears to be placed on the skin and does not flow in any way. I will not be making this piece.
While I think the flower above is a nice design, I don't think it is particularly effective and again looks like it has just been placed on the skin. I don't think I will be using this design for this reason.
I really liked how this rose design ended up as the outline shows clearly that it is a rose without it looking like it has just been placed on the skin. I think there is also enough space in the design for it to not look too fake and stuck on, and this will also give it more movement. It will be important to ensure however that there is enough structure in the piece so it can be pulled from the mould.
This design was drawn really small so didn't come out too well but was inspired by an image from the initial OHP shoot where I used a necklace with a key on the end. The movement on the chain is something I would like to capture in my final chain pieces as well as the pendant effect where there are items which can be added on to these chains.
Above are just some images of the designs on acetate that I had laid out in rough categories to help me ensure I had tested them all.
Above is a leaf strand design which I feel is simple yet effective. This design could be made in two or three sizes to maximize selling potential, and I feel it will be a strong design as it can be made structurally strong and can be worn alone or with other items.
In the above images I played around with layering different size leaves on the back. These did not come out well on the back and I think this could be to do with them being drawn too fine, but I do think that these leaf designs are a good idea for the pieces as they can be made in different sizes and worn either alone or in groups.
I really liked how the multiple butterflies in trios worked. I am going to be making different butterfly designs in different sizes to sell so they can be purchased individually or in groups. I may do some sort of offer on the smaller pieces such as butterflies and leaves to encourage more sales.
The piece in these images was one I had drawn inspired by henna and then attempted to scale down. I don't think it works particularly well in these images and feel that it looks odd and out of place among the other designs.
This is an option for one of the chain designs, I experimented with alternating chain links to make an interesting looking piece. I will be making this in my final designs and will have to consider the structure and symmetry of the design to ensure it works well and creates a high quality final piece.
In these images I have made another larger butterfly design but featured some thicker parts for more structure as I found that that could be useful when testing creating the pieces previously. I think that this makes for a much more interesting looking and stronger design so will be making this in a variety of sizes.
This leaf design and placement is really appealing and just shows how the pieces could potentially be worn to add an extra element to the styling.
I like this image where you can see the spiders' web peeking out from behind the ear. This may be a style that i create but I will have to be very careful and ensure that there is enough structure in the piece so that it doesn't rip when taking it out of the mould.
I am really fond of the chain design paired with a rose and feel that this is a great example of how the pieces can be layered together to create interesting and unique designs. again the rose outline is really beautiful and effective. I will be making a variety of rose and chain pieces so they can be paired together like this.
Overall this shoot has given me lots of ideas for my final designs, and I will follow up with a post about my final designs soon.
