I drew the designs on the acetate the same size as I was thinking of creating the pieces, and this caused an issue for me when shooting and using the OHP as the projector enlarges whatever is on the screen so the smaller I wanted the pieces to be, the less focussed the lines are. In some cases this was frustrating as I found that many of my designs did not look effective at this size, but some of the pieces I had initially designed to be smaller looked great at a larger size.
The butterfly design was one of my first designs and I like how by separating the wings there are more possibilities with arrangement and placement. I like the idea of creating a series of smaller winged butterflies to build up a collection and also to maximise sales. These would also be much easier to produce in the silicone.
The leaf design above was one which I didn't really think too much of initially but after seeing the design projected onto the body I think it is a really effective piece both on its own and when layered with other shapes, so this will be a design I will be exploring more and playing around with in terms of sizes and placements.
I like the shape of the central piece of the necklace above and think this will make an effective design for a piece as there is enough structure to it that will insure it isn't overlooked or too delicate to be noticed. This could also be paired up with a number of chains or advertised as multiples to boost sales with the promotional imagery.
I really like the shape of the chain in the above image with the key at the end. I think the key is a nice detail and the chain gives more dimension and movement to the piece. I will be thinking about this when making my designs, particularly my chain designs, and will also be creating a key piece.
I love this chandelier earring design and will definitely be encoporating this into my designs, perhaps on a smaller scale though. I like the image above with the lace on either side as it almost looks like a dress which someone would wear alongside the piece.
I am really glad that I did this shoot and am looking forward to re-shooting this week to test out some new designs that I can experiment with now I have a little more knowledge of how the OHP images will come out. There are some designs as I have discussed above which I would really like to create in my pieces which I wouldn't have thought of or discovered if I had not done this shoot so it was a brilliant exercise for me as part of the design process.
This week when I re-shoot I will be using some smaller designs so that they can be in focus and I will also be playing around with placement a lot more. I think I may bring in some clothes for the model to wear as I need to think about where these pieces will and can realistically be worn by the consumers (For example many chest pieces need to be smaller so they don't rub off with clothing etc).
